Typewriter Note ("we", "us") is a simple, minimal note-taking app at typewriternote.com. This page explains what personal data we collect, why, and what rights you have over it, in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Alberto Reineri, who builds and runs Typewriter Note as an individual. For anything on this page, including exercising your rights below, contact: reinerialberto@gmail.com.
What we collect, and why
- Account data — your email address and a hashed password (we never store your password in plain text), collected when you sign up. Used to identify you and let you log in. Legal basis: performance of a contract (providing the service you signed up for).
- Your notes and tags — the content you write in the app. Used solely to show it back to you. We don't read, analyze, or use it for anything else. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- IP address — processed briefly to prevent abuse (e.g. rate limiting login and signup attempts) and included in Cloudflare's standard security and delivery logs as our hosting provider. Rate-limit records are automatically deleted after 15 minutes. Legal basis: legitimate interest (keeping the service secure and available).
- Contact form messages — if you write to us via the contact form, we receive your email address and message to reply to you. Legal basis: legitimate interest / consent.
- Analytics — anonymized usage statistics via Google Analytics (which pages are visited, roughly how), only if you accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner. Legal basis: consent. See "Cookies" below.
Cookies
We use a Consent Mode v2-compliant cookie banner: analytics cookies are only set after you click "Accept". You can change your choice at any time from the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of this site.

Who we share data with
We don't sell your data. A few outside services help us run Typewriter Note, and each only sees what it needs to do its job:
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting, database, and content delivery for the entire site and app.
- Resend — sends the account verification email and delivers contact form messages; it only sees the recipient's email address and message content for that purpose.
- Google Ireland Limited (Google Analytics) — only if you accept analytics cookies. Data may be processed in the US; Google provides safeguards for this transfer under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep your data
Your account, notes, and tags are kept for as long as your account exists. Verification links expire and are deleted after 48 hours. Rate-limit records are deleted after 15 minutes.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict how we use it. Typewriter Note doesn't yet have a self-service "delete my account" button — email reinerialberto@gmail.com from your account's address and we'll take care of it. You can also lodge a complaint with your country's data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali).
Children
Typewriter Note isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
